We found this lock almost by accident in 1964 whilst on holiday at Bridlington. With petrol at 2/6d a gallon, we trundled round the countryside in our Morris 8 Series E unhindered by motorways. We had hired a boat earlier in the year from Bradford Boat Services and boated from Apperley Bridge to Blackburn and back. Heady stuff. The boat hire was £28! (Four weeks wages) |
