'COMRADE'

The day out on 'Comrade' started at 8am and we disembarked at 6pm after a day not to be forgotten.
Soon after leaving the Lock at South Ferriby the sails were up and when the engine stopped it was a strange feeling (for one use to an engine) only to have the sound of the wind. We managed to sail all the way to Spurn Point, however on the way back the sails had to be taken down as the wind had freshened and was coming directly at us. We traveled most of the way back from Spurn Point under the power of the engine as sailing back would have required lots of tacking and we would have not got back to South Ferriby on the tide.
If you would like a day out on one of the Societies vessels or find out more about the Society look at the options from the introduction page.
