Looking up the lock chamber from just above the bottom gates (or were they should be) Winhill lock does not have bottom gates at present and before the Navigation can be re-opened the bridge will have to be replaced by a lift or swing bridge.

The top gates and the access bridge to the farm. The bridge pictured was replaced with a similar bridge in 2001. When this lock is fully restored a swing or lift bridge will be required that meets the requirements of the landowner who requires access across the lock to his property.
