Wansford Lock and Bridge

Wansford lock as can be seen the bottom gates need replacing. The lock is opposite Wansford Post Office, a small car park is adjacent to the lock. If you pass this way have a look, to me this is the most picturesque lock on the Navigation. This picture was taken in June 2005 and shows the lock ladders that have been fitted. Wansford Lock is the last remaining lock on the Navigation requiring restoration.

Wansford Lock

The road bridge at Wansford this was once a swing bridge similar to the one at Bethell's bridge. The Local Council did promise to replace this bridge so that craft will be able to get under it once the Navigation is fully restored.

Boats once again below Wansford bridge on the 19th April 2003

Boats moored at Wansford on 19th April 2003 (opposite the Trout Inn) after the re-opening of Snakeholme lock. This is now the head of navigation until the fixed bridge at Wansford is replaced.

Moored opposite the Trout Inn at Wansford, Wansford road bridge (fixed) is just visible beyond the trees.
